About Heritage Quilts

When we were approached about developing an e-Shop for Heritage Quilts, we researched a number of e-Commerce products before settling upon the open-source OScommerce platform.

Heritage were seeking to test the market for their products on the Internet, so OScommerce (being free) was an ideal choice to minimise the initial investment. OScommerce runs on other open-source platforms such as PHP, MySQL and the Linux operating system, the the hosting options were also attractive.

Setting Up

After the initial setup of the OScommerce system, the catalog was configured. We looked at some of the configuration options with the client and tried to strike a balance in the number of features available to site visitors. The catalog was then configured to the client’s requirements and a Paypal module integrated and then tested.

The administrative interface for OScommerce was then hidden and password protected to prevent unauthorised visitors from editing the catalog.
