BiblioIreland.com: Content Management & WordPress Theme
BiblioIreland forms part of a portfolio of websites which focus on Irish literature. It’s sister sites are Books Ulster, an online bookstore and Library Ireland – an impressive repository of downloadable Irish books.
Using WordPress As A Content Management System
Because of the sheer volume of material, we decided to use the blogging platform, WordPress as the basis for a content management system to store the book information. We were able to use a number of ready-made WordPress plugins to enhance the user experience. For instance, tagging has been used to classify each book within the site as well as broader categories to help visitors find related material.
Web Standards & Search Engine Optimisation
The WordPress theme for BiblioIreland was built using XHTML and CSS for maximum compatibility and tested in Internet Explorer, FireFox, Flock and Opera. This Web Standards-based approach lends itself well to organic search engine optimisation.
In-site Advertising
We also provided insight and advice on how to get the best results from Google’s AdSense program, helping to better integrate the ads with the website theme and also improving the tracking system to show which advert placements were performing the best.
