Ever wanted to try out a blog, but didn’t know where to start?

WordPress.com is a free, invitation-only hosted blog system, which means you don’t have to worry about setting up WordPress – you just sign up and start blogging.

But how do you get an invitation? Well, if you install the Flock web browser (beta version), you can sign up for a free WordPress account.

About Flock: An Alternative Web Browser

Flock is one of a new breed of web browser programs. To the uninitiated, it does what Internet Explorer does, but better.

Flock is still in development, but it’s a very capable browser, similar in many ways to FireFox. Its one outstanding feature at the moment is a blog editor tool which allows you to post to your blog(s) from Flock.

If you’ve never tried an alternative to Internet Explorer before, Flock might be a good place to start.

About WordPress: Blog Publishing Platform

WordPress is a weblog publishing platform. For professional use and more control over the look and feel, it’s better to install WordPress on your own web server from the WordPress.org website. WordPress.com is a hosted version which takes away the hassle of setting up your site.

WordPress offers an easy interface to type up documents for the web and post them on your website without worrying about formatting and designing a site. This is great for people who just want to manage their site without uploading and downliading files and dealing with HTML/CSS.

Thanks to Blogging Pro for the tipoff!

I’ve just created my own WordPress blog – Gerrybot! Let me know if you did too…
